Kristen Anne Bell (born 1980) is an American actor and singer. She is a Michigan native, born and was raised by her parents Lorelei Frygier (a nurse) as well as Tom Bell (a TV news director). The mother of Kristen is Polish and her father is German, English Irish and Scottish. Kristen discovered her talents in the entertainment industry in her early years. In 1992 she won her first part in her audition in Raggedy Ann & Andy. Bell's mother signed her up with an agency before she turned 13; she later appeared on television commercials as well as newspaper advertisements. Bell also began taking private acting classes around that time. Bell had an uncredited role in the film Polish Wedding (1998) in 1998. Bell was a member of the Drama and Music Club in Shrine Catholic High School. She won the starring role of Dorothy at her school's performance of The Wizard of Oz. After graduating, Bell relocated in New York City to attend the highly regarded Tisch School of the Arts, where she was a musical theater student. The year 2001 was the time Bell left university to portray the character in the role of Becky as Becky in Tom Sawyer. Bell made her debut film credit in Pootie Tang in 2001. However, her scene it was cut and her only appearance is in the final credits. Bell made an appearance alongside Angela Bettis and Liam Neeson in 2002's Broadway revival of The Crucible.
